Philippe Pascua (Block 3A, ’97) notified the e-group about the passing of Ma’am Mary Eloisa Torres-Rowshanga. It is also with sad note that we re-post it here on Sayote Republic. He wrote on July 3, 2008:

Pardon to everybody but I just would like to share this sad news about the unfortunate passing of Mam Mary Eloisa (Malu/Mamilou) Torres-Rowshangah about 2-3 days ago. On her way to the UP dorm, she slipped on the stairway and might have hit her head hard on the concrete steps causing internal hemorrhage which caused her untimely demise. Mam Malu is more known among biology students where she taught subjects like Embryology and Cell Biology.

To those who personally know her and who have been under her class, please join me in prayers for God’s grace on her departed soul and for strength/courage among her family members that are now grieving of their loss.

You will be remembered Mam!!! And may you find peace and happiness wherever you are.

  • If you guys have anymore information regarding her untimely death i would really appreciate it very much.If any of you have pictures of her please send it to us. we're still grieving and there's no closure not untill we hear from you beautiful people. This her sister from U.S.
  • Thanks for the clarification, Sir Willy.

hi there. i would like to confirm the sad news about prof. rowshangah. she passed away last july 1, at around 10:30 am at the baguio general hospital. she was cremated on the same day. UP Baguio had a memorable service for her on the following day at the UP Auditorium. her only daughter marie was there with her husband Brando.

i'd like to correct the information regarding the circumstances of her death. the accident happened inside malou's studio apartment (inside the toilet) and this resulted to a broken hip bone. she did not hit her head on the concrete steps as earlier posted. this happened on june 24. she was at BGH for one week; apparently, the internal bleeding was due to the pain killers that she had to take. exactly a week later, she passed away due to cardiac arrest (the immediate cause as reflected in her death certificate).

thanks. our thoughts and prayers for her and her immediate family.
