Earthquake Babies 90With trumpets, balloons, flashing pendants, neon streamer and poppers! This was how the former University of the Philippines College Baguio (UPCB) freshmen who experienced the 1990 earthquake in Baguio City celebrated the UP Baguio Alumni Homecoming Pasiklaban Parade last December 5, 2008.

Officially known as the “UPCB Earthquake Babies ’90,” it was the only group of graduates in UP Baguio that was well represented during the alumni celebration.

During the parade, most students/alumni joined their former organizations and those who were not affiliated with any organization, also marched with the rest of the faculty and former alumni from other batches.

While our batch did not reach the targeted 30 batchmates we hoped for, the “Earthquake Babies ‘90” were so alive and kicking — and loud. We noticed that people in Session Road at that time loved our group since we were one of the most photographed contingents.

Earlier that day, some of our batchmates who were members of the UP Vanguard, assisted in the Medical Mission.  Some presented during the Artist’s Night on December 5. Our more athletic batchmates played during the volleyball and basketball matches during the Alumni Sportsfest on December 6.

Truly, the aftershock of the Earthquake Babies ’90 was felt everywhere during the UP Baguio Alumni Homecoming!

(Editor’s note: More photos of the “Earthquake Babies” are available on the here.)
