Search for the new UPB Chancellor

The deadline for nominations and submission of relevant papers for the UP Baguio Chancellorship has passed (16 Feb 2009). Only two names have been forwarded:

  • Prof. Lorelei C. Mendoza
  • Prof. Priscilla Supnet-Macansantos

There is a formal process of selecting a new Chancellor for UP Baguio including a public consultation with faculty, students, admin and alumni. We do not have details (yet) of how the alumni consultation (on March 4) will be carried out but we thought that we would ask the members of the Alumni ng UP Baguio Yahoo Group for their choice. Sayote Republic does not and cannot guarantee that the results of this poll will be considered as the voice of the alumni for the consultation. We will endeavour to get the results to the relevant parties before March 4 and hope that they would consider it if there is quite a good turnaround.

To cast your vote, please go to the Alumni ng UP Baguio Yahoo Group page, click on Polls and look for Who should be the next UPB Chancellor?

If you are an alumnus and not yet a member of this e-group, please join by clicking here.

To help you decide, there is a presentation of their vision papers on the 20th of February, 8:30am at the Bulwagang Juan Luna at the UP Baguio campus. But for the majority of us who won’t make it for that presentation, here are the links to the CV of each of nominee that has been presented for the Search Committee.

Mendoza CV

Supnet-Macansantos CV

Results of the poll will be presented after March 4.

    Has the CAC been abolished?

Speaking of UP Baguio, I am just wondering why the College of Arts and Communication's (CAC) profile did not appear on the UP Baguio website when the colleges of Science and Social Sciences and even the Institute of Management appeared on the website. I find it unsettling. Has the CAC been abolished? I hope to high heavens that this did not happen. Will anyone shed light on this concern? Thanks

FYI: The consultation was held at the Multi Purpose Hall where the selection committee accommodated individuals from the faculty, alumni etc. I went with our alumni president Judge Fernando Vil Pamintuan. The result of our poll is more or less the same as that which was represented in the consultation...
